Overview
CIRIEC-Japan was organized as one of the international branch of CIRIEC-International in 1985.
According to the CIRIEC-International statute, CIRIEC-Japan is an independent
academic association, having network with the CIRIEC-International.
After its establishment, CIRIEC-Japan has developed its academic activities
in accordance with its international spheres, sometimes attending the Congress
as delegations. CIRIEC-Japan’s members need not belong directly to CIRIEC-International,
but have automatically been understood as international members. (International
Membership is paid from the part of domestic budget. ) This system is very
rare for the Japanese academic societies, but convenient for them to promote
their international relationship.
The headquarters of CIRIEC-International are located at Liege, Belgium. Many sections of this institution are located mainly in Europe in addition to Canada, Argentine, Turkey, Japan, including some candidate countries in Eastern Europe and South America. They hold the biennial congress to discuss the issues and prospects on public utilities, cooperate and social economies. They also organize the scientific councils on the subjects of public economy and social economy.
CIRIEC-Japan holds an annual congress and publishes an academic magazine
every year. It also organize the study groups for the cooperate and social
economy.
In this report, I would like to introduce both of the CIRIEC-International
and CIRIEC-Japans’ activities after the mid 1990s.
